I welcome you to SNDT Arts and Commerce College for Women, Pune. It is a constituent college of SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. It is the oldest and the premier college of the university. The college was established by Bharat Ratna Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve on 5th July, 1916 to impart education exclusively to women. It is the first women’s college not only in India but also in South-East Asia. The Heritage Building of the college is situated in the heart of the Pune city. It has a beautiful and spacious green campus flooded with various species of flora and fauna. The college has an excellent infrastructure. It provides facilities such as well-equipped Knowledge Resource Centre, Hostel, Sports ground, Gymnasium and Cafeteria. There are modern facilities such as LCD projectors and well-equipped computer lab and library. The college offers five programmes: B.A., B. Com, BAF, BVA, BCA and other eleven courses in English and Marathi medium. Also, the specializations in Languages, Social Sciences, Music and Drawing & Painting can be pursued by the students. In the view of NEP, the college introduces add-on courses. The college faculties are highly qualified and dedicated. They put in sincere efforts for students' personality development through various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The NSS, NCC, Sports, Geo-fest, Manas-Darpan, Compu-fest, Enrichment Series, Antarang-Annual, Art Exhibition, Yuva Mahotsav and Exhibition by the Alumni are some of the features of the college. It undertakes various extension activities with the help of the students for the upliftment and the progress of society. It strives to inculcate values in students through such activities. The college has very good academic ambience and students are punctual and regular in attending classes. The foundation courses such as Status of Women in Changing India, Personality Development, Current Social Issues and Environment Studies help in grooming the students to achieve the motto of the university – संस्कृता स्त्री पराशक्ति: (An enlightened woman is the source of infinite strength.)

Junior College (+2) has been started in 1975, offering courses in Arts and Commerce prescribed by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher secondary Education, Pune. An independent and separate wing for Higher Secondary Vocational Courses (+2) started in 1989-90. The goal and mission of the junior college is to provide access to higher education, imparting skill education and creating environment for all-round development of the girl students through formal and vocational education. The students from out of Pune are provided hostel facility on the basis of merit. The Student’s Council creates opportunities to cultivate leadership qualities in students. The Parents-Teachers Association helps to bring about better communication between parents and teachers. It also increases parental involvement to bring improvement in academic performance, attendance, indiscipline issues in students. The Annual Social Gathering activities provide a platform for the students to show their artistic skills. The Department of Sports trains students for various sports related competitions and motivates them to participate in inter-collegiate and open tournaments at State / National level. The department of NCC provides soldier like military training under 2 Maharashtra Girls Battalion, Pune. It promotes the students for state level and national level NCC camps. Thus, the students get benefits of healthy and competitive environment to grow in every sphere of activity like academics, sports or co-curricular.
