Department of BVA (Drawing and Painting)

Year of Establishment: 1954

The Department of Art and Painting was established in 1954, initially offering a 3-year Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) programme with Drawing as a special subject. The department laid the foundation for nurturing artistic talent and creativity among women students.

1984: Illustration was introduced as a subject in commercial design, providing students with creative exposure and professional orientation. This development encouraged higher studies and specialization in Visual Arts.

2004: A professional 4-year Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) programme came into existence, offering comprehensive training in Drawing, Painting, and Applied Arts. The course integrates traditional techniques with modern creative practices, enabling students to develop artistic expression and professional competence in the field of Visual Arts.
